Active holidays

An active holiday a bit out of the ordinary

Walking with our champions of nature

The curtain rises, the sun is shining and the alpine scenery is breathtaking: we are pleased to present Fabian, our skilled MTB guide, nature expert and an avid cross-country skier. You can "kidnap" him for a few hours, and explore wonderful hiking paths or cycle trails together.

"The contact with nature and the exercise help keep me energised and active, allowing me to relax and to enjoy new colours and scents. Basically, I love the open spaces, the freedom, and the chance to roam in tranquil, uncrowded places." Fabian

The magical world
of the Dolomites in winter

The Tre Cime Dolomiti ski area

It's nearly impossible to list everything that the award-winning Three Peaks Dolomites ski area has to offer. The resorts has so many advantages and attractions that it almost defies description: 110 kilometres of slopes, divided between 5 interconnected mountains, an extraordinary variety of beautifully groomed slopes and, of course, guaranteed snow throughout the winter season.

Plus points:

  • Ski Pustertal Express
This shuttle train takes you from the Three Peaks Dolomites resort to the Plan de Corones ski area in just 35 minutes. 200 kilometres of slopes. A new dimension to skiing: your car can stay in the garage while you put on your boots and climb aboard the Ski Pustertal Express, enjoy the journey and then get off and walk straight into the next ski lift.
  • New ski connections & Tour of the Peaks
1 ski tour. New ultra-modern ski lifts. 5,600-metre change in altitude. 34 km long. 2 provinces. A unique and wonderful landscape, wherever you look.
  • Free fall ride
Gradient: 72%. One of the steepest slopes in the Alps. A challenge not only for skiers, but also for the snowcat, which has to be attached to a winch to prevent it toppling downhill. Do you want to try it? You can, but you need to have nerves of steel.
  • 3 Peaks: Christmas on skis
The magic of Christmas lights and music, combined with delicious seasonal treats: the 3 Peaks Dolomites ski area is the first of its kind in the world to become a centre of Christmas delights.
  • Fun on a sled
3 toboggan runs on three different mountains: guaranteed fun as you speed down to the valley on two steel blades! No need to struggle up to the top, you can take your sled with you in the ski lift. All the toboggan runs are given artificial snow cover, to ensure they can be used throughout the winter.
  • A family-friendly ski area
Younger visitors are the centre of attention on Mount Baranci, known as the mountain for families. Children see their dreams come true when they take there first ride on skis down an easy slope. The Three Peaks Dolomites resort has so much to offer families: three toboggan runs in the local area, a herd of reindeer - the only one in Italy -, giant snowman sculptures and mountain hut restaurants with special menus for children.

with exciting hikes and bike rides

Take one of the ski lifts in the Three Peaks area up to the top.
You can choose between Mount Elmo, Mount Baranci, the Orto del Toro, the Croda Rossa and the Col d'la Tenda at Comelico!

There's a lovely surprise for guests staying in Alta Pusteria! The "3 Zinnen Mountain Card" is a pass valid for several days, allowing unlimited use of all the ski lifts in the Three Peaks Dolomites area. The pass is also great for MTB enthusiasts, who can take their bikes with them in the cable car and start their adventures up in the peaks.

  • Mount Baranci - The mountain for families.
The resort offers many varied attractions for younger visitors: the village of the gnomes with tree houses, the Tibetan stairs and bridges, an adventure park named after the giant Baranci, a tubing track, the Fun Bob summer run, and much more. There are various easy or medium-hard walks you can take from the ski lift station, leading as far as the Piccola Rocca dei Baranci. As you climb up, you get a splendid view of the Three Peaks.
  • Orto del Toro - The mountain of huts and pastures.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the great Meridiana di Sesto and the Three Peaks. An ideal starting point for MTB rides or hikes up to the Sesto alpine pastures and the Carnic ridge.

The entrance to the new "Olperl" nature park on Mount Elmo is right by the upper ski lift station, and takes children of all ages on an interactive journey through the world of alpine fauna. Part of the trail can be walked with bare feet, and at a height of 2150 metres it's the highest "Barefoot Path" in the Dolomites. The 1.5 km long circular route is also suitable for pushchairs.
  • Croda Rossa - The mountain at the heart of the Dolomites.
Immerse yourself in the history of the Dolomites. Find out about events in the First World War. Venture along the most famous via ferrate in the Alps, and meet the only reindeer herd in the Dolomites, which has now lived here for three generations. Help feed the reindeer, and learn lots of interesting facts about these animals and their life in the herd.
  • Col d’la Tenda - The mountain for sports-lovers.
It is just over the border of South Tyrol, in the province of Belluno, and is a real hub for sports enthusiasts. With two single-track MTB trails and lots of paths for hikers, it's an ideal place to enjoy healthy outdoor activity.

The Stoneman
a memorable experience

The Stoneman - a memorable experience, unique idea, and genuine challenge: all surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Dolomites.

What is the Stoneman?

The Stoneman offers two alternatives: one for hikers and one for cyclists. In both cases, participants have to follow a set route to various checkpoints, where they receive a stamp on their bracelets. The stamps are counted up to show how many kilometres participants have completed. Stoneman contestants are free to choose how many sections they complete each day. However, they have a maximum of 3 days to get to all the checkpoints and return to their starting point. Those who manage to cover the entire distance within the set time are awarded the exclusive Stoneman Trophy, personally designed by Roland Stauder!

How did the idea of the Stoneman Trophy come about?

Even though the aim of the Trail is more to have a special experience in a natural setting than to take part in a sports competition, participants still receive recognition for their efforts. The "finishers", or those who complete all the various routes, receive the coveted Stoneman Trophy in one of three versions: gold, silver or bronze. The type of award depends on the time taken to complete the course. Regardless of whether it's gold, silver or bronze, the trophy is not simply a test of performance, according to Roland Stauder, but rather a reminder of an amazing experience. This attractive point of view runs counter to the attitude so rooted in today's society, that judges everything in terms of performance.

Roland Stauder

As an official partner of the Stoneman Trail, our hotel offers the following services:

  • 20% discount on the Stoneman starter package
  • 40% discount for guided MTB excursions
  • 2 MTB excursions a week, with no minimum number of participants

Who came up with the idea?

After 21 years on the road as a professional cyclist, Roland Stauder felt the need to return to his homeland. To go back to his roots, as they say. His greatest wish was to be able to enjoy the natural environment, regardless of sporting performance or technique. This wish came true with the Stoneman Trail. The former MTB professional decided that he would be personally responsible for its creation.

And the concept has grown: exciting alternatives to the classic Stoneman Trail include, for example, the Stoneman Hike, a 54.5 km trek in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, and the Stoneman Road, a circular route for road bikes that includes 7 Dolomite passes.
